The USB DAC Stick  is a small external sound card for your computer. It utilizes a Wolfson DAC chip to feed a built-in high-power headphone amplifier.

High Output Power

The stick is our solution for anyone requiring hi-fidelity sound from their computer using a convenient "one box" design.  Although it measures only 49 mm x 38 mm and is just 16mm thick, it will drive any headphones <600 ohms with authority. The stick automatically boosts the standard USB 5V output to 18V giving it driving power approaching that of many stationary headphone amps (at a fraction of the size and cost). You can use the stick on any USB port providing 500mA output current. This is the standard for most primary USB ports.


High-End DAC Section

The DAC section is based on the newest generation of our USB DAC cable. Texas Instrument's PCM2707 chip receives the USB digital data, converts it into I²S format and sends it to the Wolfson WM8740 DAC chip. This technology produces analog audio of exceptional clarity and depth. The ultra-low noise AD8656 is used to buffer the DAC. Digital and analog power paths are driven by a low-noise regulator and separated through ferrite beads for minimum noise. It will even provide noise free sound from "noisy" USB ports such as those often found on hubs.
